The Main Lodge really is the best place to make memories with families and friends halfway between JHB and Durban. It is ideal for group bookings or family getaways. The Main Lodge sleeps a total of 10 people and a minimum of 6 although we can accommodate up to 18 upon request. It is split into 2 units – the main section and the cottage on the right of that. The main section sleeps 6 with an en-suite bedroom downstairs and 2 mezzanine bedrooms upstairs. The cottage has a bedroom downstairs and a mezzanine room upstairs.
In the main sections, there is a king size bed with en-suite in the bedroom downstairs, and 2 single beds in each of the the 2 upstairs mezzanine level bedrooms. The kitchen, lounge and bar are central to this building.
The cottage is located separately alongside the Main Lodge to the right. It has a king size bed downstairs (that can be split into 2 twin beds upon request), and 2 single beds in the upstairs open plan mezzanine level bedroom. It has it’s own en suite bathroom (shower, toilet and basin).
Facilities
The kitchen for the Main Lodge is located in the main entertainment area and is fully equipped with gas stove and oven, crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils and a gas chest freezer and fridge.
All beds have linen and down duvets. Extra blankets are provided for winter. Swimming towels are not provided, guests are to supply their own.
Both units have a wooden deck overlooking the river, outside furniture, an inside fireplace and there is a braai area at the main deck of the Main Lodge. This kitchen and braai area is for exclusive use of the guests staying at the Main Lodge.
The accommodation is serviced daily by husband and wife team, Bheki and Thoko. Dishes will be washed and beds made every morning and we greatly appreciate any gratuities you may leave towards them.
Please note: the upstairs rooms in the Main Lodge Cottage, Rapids and Kingfisher cannot be made up into doubles due to the pitch of the roof and are not suitable for toddlers, the unfit or the elderly as the staircase is quite narrow and steep.
